Tarot Spread: The Tree of Your Life (with Nature)

Here’s a little something to get this blog going! I developed this spread from an exercise that is offered in Storytelling Therapy, which was created by Dr Eric Keller. It allows you to take a deep look at how your life experiences and attitudes towards nature have unfolded throughout your life, from your roots of childhood (or even your past lives, if that’s a belief of yours) through to the tips of your branches: the things just coming into fruition.

Remember that most of this spread should be understood to be relating to your relationship with Nature (although, as is always the way with the Tarot, other aspects of your life may want to be acknowledged in order to understand it).

For this spread, please have a large table prepared – or a tiny deck of cards! Shuffle the cards however you like, and choose 13 cards face down, without over-thinking it. The cards that you choose are always the right ones, whether you hesitate or not.

The ‘Tree of Your Life with Nature’ spread.

Throw out the cards, create your own tree, and journal on your revelations.

Arrange the cards roughly where the numbers appear in the accompanying tree image, and feel free to make a mess; it’s your tree, and every tree grows differently.

Cards 1–4: Your Roots. These cards represent attitudes and events from your deep past – childhood, usually – that have influenced your connection with nature.

Cards 5 and 6: The Trunk. These cards represent what has happened along the way; significant events or people that influenced your relationship with nature as you grew. (Teenage years and young adulthood are often represented here – if you are old enough!)

Cards 7–11: The Crown. Adult Years. Significant influences in your adult life (so far) in relation to nature. Keep an open mind as to what pops up here.

Cards 12 and 13: The Dangling Fruits. These cards represent a few things that are coming into fruition regarding your nature connection. These are the fruits that are ready to fall from the tree: developing situations that haven’t quite materialised yet. They are not predictions; they represent what you can already see unfolding.

That’s all for now, friends. Thank you for being here – and be sure to check out my Tarot Therapy Sessions if you’d like us to work together :)

Smiles from Scotland,

Stephen
