Episode 2: The Sky (Nature Therapy Online Podcast)

In Episode Two of the Nature Therapy Online podcast, we will be spending time with the sky. Click on the black player above to listen

I sit in the attic of the rural cottage where I live in Midlothian, Scotland, sharing my thoughts and feelings about why connecting with that magnificent expanse up there is so important for us as humans.

Bring the beauty of the sky back into your life. Don’t neglect what’s happening up there! It’s such a simple and awe-inspiring thing to look up and experience ourselves here, so small, so tiny. It can be so liberating.

Here in my attic, my dog Euro and my cat Kathy sit with me. I glance out at the clouds and allow myself to go into a resting place, the place I go when I engage in my personal ecotherapy tasks. I share some mindfulness-based ideas and exercises that you can do to deepen your own personal ecotherapy practise.

Below is a simple exercise from my forthcoming free e-book, Nature Therapy for Everyone, which I touch on in the podcast.

Day Sky: Ecotherapy Exercise. Watch the sky in the daytime. Fix your eyes in one place, and spend at least 2 minutes looking up at what’s going on up there. Are clouds floating by, and if so, how quickly do they move? What colour is the sky? Try doing it on different days, noticing the different ways you feel when the sky is in different state. How might the state of the sky affect your mood daily without you realising?

I hope you enjoy this week’s radio show. I do hope that episode two of the Nature Therapy Online podcast helps you depend your connection with the beautiful expanse up there. If you have any ideas about things you’d like me to cover in future episodes, please do to comment below or get in touch! Also feel free to subscribe and review on Itunes, or wherever you listen to your podcasts (it would be so appreciated)! Green hugs, Stephen x
